A Cherry On Top - Grasshopper
What makes life extra special for you? You know, the cherry on top? I’ll start.
• Having family around.
• Hearing laughter in our home.
• Seeing dogs hang their heads out car windows.
• Children helping their mom or dad when shopping at the supermarket.
• People hugging arriving passengers at the airport.
How about you? What little touches put the finishing touch on something already special?
If you can’t answer this question, you’re missing out on your life and all it has to offer.
What to do?
Make a list of things you are grateful for: the things, if you didn’t have, would make life a little less enjoyable.
This isn’t a list of the things you once had, it’s a list of what you have now. Focus on those things and the joy they bring.
We can all easily make a list of what makes us sad. That’s the opposite of gratitude and won’t lift up our mood.
When sad thoughts come your way, let them have their say, and then focus on what adds to your day.
This little practice of shifting focus has it’s own brand of hocus-pocus and delivers cherries out of thin air, which give life that extra little flair.
All the best,
