Without Patience Results Come Slower - Grasshopper

I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s been accused of being short on patience. What that got me was this: it took me longer to get to solutions.

I ignored the sage advice of the English proverb: “Good things come to those who wait.” “Take the bull by the horns” was my mantra.

I certainly had success with that approach, but my share of the pie was slow to come my way.

Thankfully, I’ve come to learn that patience is not only my friend but a catalyst to getting results quicker.

It seems counterintuitive to say slow down to speed up, but I’ve discovered it’s the fastest way to fill up your cup.

I may still tap my foot while I wait, but I now keep the charging bull behind the gate, but not always. Patience is a work in progress for me, but when I employ it, there’s more for my eyes to see, and at the end of the day many things, more quickly, come my way.

I’ll leave you with my favorite story on patience. Two surgeons, one experienced and the other new, are doing open heart surgery on a patient. The older surgeon explains that they only have 45 seconds to do a delicate procedure, otherwise the patient will die. He notices the sweat soaking through the young surgeon’s mask and says, “We’ll have plenty of time if we don’t rush.”

All the best,

John
