Dreams Can Never Come True From A Position of Resistance - Grasshopper

Resistance is a condition that binds and blinds. Until the ropes are cut and the blindfold is removed, you'll stay tethered to the ground leaving the blue sky for others to find.

That constricting force you feel keeping you from moving forward is resistance. It's worth exploring.

 

Ask yourself, "What am I resisting?"

Reminds me of a TV feature I saw over the weekend. It was about a recent Vogue Magazine article where actress Jennifer Aniston said how "uncool" it was for actress Angelina Jolie to talk about her attraction to actor Brad Pitt while he was still married to her, Aniston.

 

Regardless of whether you agree with her assessment or not, anyone watching this show or reading her words bore witness to resistance binding Aniston to her past.

Pardon me for going Hollywood on you, but until her resistance to Pitt's new happiness dissolves, she will be helplessly bound to him and never be able to really launch. It's sad to watch and even sadder to experience.

 

Carl Jung said it best: "What you resist persists."

Resistance puts a drag on your momentum.

 

Let's put this in another frame. What is it that you have desired for a long time but can't seem to get? Others seem to be able to get there, but not you. They don't have any more skills than you, but they have what it is that you can't seem to get. What's the difference?

There are a lot of answers to that question. Here's mine: They were willing to give up something in order to get something else. They gave up resisting.

 

Resistance only exists in your head but it affects your body. The constriction that this mental construct delivers can be felt throughout your entire body. It can act as a governor on your "get up and go" and there is an unspoken tightness about you. Your ability to free flow is being held in check.

This constriction permeates everything you do, even what you do best.

 

We may all resist different things but, truth be told, we're resisting the same thing - "What is."

Resisting reality keeps fulfillment out of reach. Each minute you spend resisting is another minute you devote to delaying.

 

The silliest thing we do is resist that which has already happened. How effective can that be? The "fun house mirror" logic goes something like this: "If I resist what has happened, it will somehow magically disappear." That's like resisting a tornado after it has left town.

Resistance and peace cannot exist in the same space. Without peace, any movement forward will be herky-jerky at best.

 

Resistance will always dissolve in the presence of peace. The peace written about here is peace of mind.

Fruitful thoughts come from a peaceful mind. Offering no resistance to "what is" is the essence of peace, and that wisdom is lyrically expressed in a popular Beatles song:

 

Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be.
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.
