Plot Your Future With A Screenshot - Grasshopper

Have you ever metaphorically taken a screenshot of your life? In other words, find out where you are right now.

Life is a collection of screenshots, a collection of moments, if you will.

The message is that you have to know where you are now in order to get where you want to go.

Many of us never take inventory of where we are right now. Our focus is usually where we used to be or where we’d like to be. The conundrum is always the same: You can’t get to where you want to go without knowing where you are.

A screenshot is unemotional. It’s just a snapshot in time that shows you what’s going on right now without attaching meaning. It’s recognizing the reality of your current spot in time. A screenshot is reality, not fantasy.

This isn’t an invitation to beat yourself up for where you currently are. There is no benefit to that. It’s just a bruising experience with no reward. This is an invitation to recognize where you are, so you can plot a path to where you want to go.

There is an expression that fits nicely here: “Let’s get real.” A screenshot is real. It pinpoints your current location so you don’t hallucinate that you’re somewhere else. Because you can’t get to where you want to go from a place you don’t know.

All the best,

John
