Destination Frustration: Lie Until You Die - Grasshopper
The TV character, HOUSE has revealed an eternal truth: "Everybody Lies." And the biggest way to ensure continued frustration into eternity is to keep that practice alive.
We lie to ourselves and we lie to others. It's what makes the world go round, go flat.
Somehow we have convinced ourselves that lying advances our cause. It's only a temporary victory as we nervously build our house of cards.
The amount of frustration you experience in life is in direct proportion to the amount of lies that you keep alive.
How frustrated are you?
You can begin to end the frustration at any moment by ending a lie. It's a process. I sincerely doubt anyone is capable of doing it all at once, but once you begin the process, it takes on a life of its own as you come clean.
People fear coming clean because they are terrified of being found out. So much of who we are is wrapped up in whom we purport to be, that once that façade begins to erode, we feel we will no longer exist. (Think of the frustrations and façades of world-class liars like Richard Nixon and O.J. Simpson)
When you confuse who you are with who you are pretending to be, you have all the frustrations of Pinocchio.
Think of anyone you personally know who is an inveterate liar and witness their frustration level. More importantly, measure your own frustrations and you'll find your level of lying.
Being found out is considered a fate worse than death. Here's the truth: Everyone, at some level, already knows you are a fake. They can see the lies that prop up your cardboard cutout, but since many are too polite to point it out, you feel as though you've dodged a bullet again.
Maintaining a lie will cause you to continually look over your shoulder to see if you've covered your tracks. The neck pain alone is frustrating.
Keeping it straight or coming clean are the two choices.
It comes down to this: Are you tired of being frustrated? If so, you have the remedy - come clean.
You wash away your dirty little secret of frustration when you put your laundry on the line.
It's really this simple: if you want to be frustrated for the rest of your life, continue to keep your lies alive.
My hypnosis mentor, Dr. Dave Dobson often said, "You need to run into a crusty old son of a bitch like me to point out the obvious."
There's no sugar coating it. If you are frustrated, you are living a lie and the solution is obvious. Come clean.
All the best,
John
