’Til The End Of Time - Grasshopper
I was listening to an old song the other day . . . and I caught myself singing along to this line: ’Til the end of time.
And it made me wonder . . . what does that even mean?
I mean, really – ’til the end of time?
What are we talking about there?
Now, if you go the Einstein route, he basically says time doesn’t even exist . . . that we invented it. That it’s just what the clock says. Past, present, future – it’s all kind of a stubborn illusion.
Alright . . . that’s one way to look at it.
Then there’s the dictionary. Nice and clean. Time is just a system for measuring duration – hours, days, years.
Fair enough.
But here’s the question I can’t shake:?
When does time actually end?
In a basketball game, that’s easy – the buzzer goes off. Game over.
But in life?
My personal take is . . . time ends when you can no longer think about it.
Think about it this way: when you’re watching the clock, time stretches out. It drags. I can still remember sitting in school, staring at that clock on the wall, practically begging it to move so I could get outside.
But when you’re doing something you love? Something that pulls you in?
You’re not thinking about time at all.
You’re just . . . there.
And in that moment, time kind of disappears – It ends.
Now don’t get me wrong – clock time matters. If you’ve got a train to catch, or a flight to make, you better be paying attention to it.
But when it’s not necessary?
Maybe that’s your cue to let time end.
Because the more you think about it, the more it boxes you in. All those “shoulds” and “ought tos” start piling up . . . and you miss the moment you’re actually living.
And here’s something interesting . . .
Moments themselves? You can’t measure them.
So maybe the strategy is simple:
Stop watching the clock . . . and watch the moments in life come your way more often.
You might be surprised how many more of them show up.
